Our Story
Roibeárd Ó Dubhlaoich carries a deep personal connection to Ireland’s revolutionary path. Growing up with firsthand accounts passed down through his family, Roibeárd has dedicated himself to honoring the real human stories of the revolutionary period.
His ancestry reaches into the key moments of the independence struggle: besides Willie Rownan who fought inside Clanwilliam House. His family line includes Simon Donnelly, who famously escaped Kilmainham Gaol in 1921, Captain Sean Mc Cluskey, Michael Collins’ most trusted man, and Mick Mullally, who fought at Dublin Castle and City Hall during the 1916 Rising.
Roibeárd is the author of ROWNAN: An Irish Rebel Story, a historical novel based on his great-grandfather’s life. The book offers an authentic look at the harrowing realities of urban combat and the enduring sacrifices made by ordinary men for Irish freedom.
Driven by a passion for living history, Roibeárd personally leads The Battle of Mount Street Bridge Tour. Through these guided walks, he shares unique family insights, tactical details, and vivid personal narratives, giving visitors an unforgettable connection to one of Ireland’s most iconic moments.
